the bungee scene on i live alone is NOT funny when you look at the staff guy

ok so everyone was laughing at gu sung hwan freezing up before the bungee jump on i live alone and yes his face was gold BUT look at the guy behind him

gu sung hwan and his friend had harnesses. the staff member running the cords on the platform had no harness, no fall protection, nothing tying his feet to anything, and he's literally stepping on the bungee cord and letting it go. korean viewers caught it fast, one comment was basically "what if a scared guest grabs his hand" and honestly that's the first thing i thought too and this is right after the whole editing manipulation mess with the jun hyun moo kazakhstan episode. i love this show, i've watched it for years, but a show this big can afford one extra harness. that's not nitpicking that's the bare minimum

The edit is a choice, fair. But the show picked what to air and the site owner set the rules, and only one of those changes if viewers complain.

the guy probably does this 40 times a day and has stopped thinking about it. which is exactly how accidents happen

the guy freezing is funny and the staff having no harness is not. i can hold both thoughts ๐Ÿฅน

to be fair the gear on the platform is the bungee operator's call, not the PD's. but the show picked the site and aired it without a second thought

A school farm trip has tighter safety rules than a TV bungee platform, apparently.

exactly!! one blur filter for the staff face but zero thought about the staff safety lol

harness check is the first thing they make us do on a school field trip. to a farm

People are being a bit hard on the show here. Experienced operators sometimes skip certain gear, and we only saw a few seconds of it. I'd want to hear from the operator first.

A few seconds is exactly the problem though. The edit chose to cut to his face and not to the platform fix, so the footage we have is the one we judge.

Holding both thoughts is the right call. Laugh at the face, side-eye the platform.

7marigold.mp32026.10.18

The staff guy has the calmest face of everyone on that platform and that's what worries me.

calmest face on the platform is what gets me too. that guy has seen things

6dumpling.exe2026.10.18

he's seen 400 jumpers and 0 harness inspections. that calm is earned

7velvetcrow2026.10.18

everyone's arguing PD vs operator and the staff guy just wants his shift to end.

poor guy just wants his shift to end and now he's the main character of a safety debate. hope someone got him a harness after this
