🔥100 Days of Deception is my rainy weekend pick

7NariAm2026.10.17 20:46👁 1883💬 28♥ 63

If you want something for a wet weekend that's tense but still easy on the eyes, I reckon 100 Days of Deception is it. tvN, Saturdays and Sundays, and it only started last weekend so catching up is no effort. Kim You Jung plays Lee Ga Kyeong, a pickpocket in 1932 Gyeongseong (what Seoul was called back then) who ends up spying for the independence movement. Park Jinyoung is the interpreter whose wallet she nicks the first time they meet, and he turns out to be the adopted son of one of the top men in the colonial government. Not ideal for her.

The episode 3 stills are the hanbok to bob jump. She takes the spy deal because she's wanted to get to America for years, then turns up for her first day at the Government-General as an interpreter trainee with a short bob and a Western suit, and runs into him for the fourth time. Living in Busan you walk past a few buildings from that era and never get to see inside, so honestly the sets are half of it for me.

park jinyoung playing a guy with two names in a colonial office is going to hurt eventually, i can tell

tvn weekend slot is perfect for this, ep 2 ends and it's still saturday. good for rainy days, bad for sleep

the bob + office still is such a mood ✨ i'd watch for the costumes alone

7Junseo2026.10.17

ep 3's hanbok to bob change is a nice visual marker, she literally walks in as a different person. good rainy day pick

7Minjae2026.10.17

A man with two names in a colonial office means one of them gets read out loud at the worst possible moment. Bracing already.

Small context: the Government-General was the Japanese colonial administration's headquarters. Korean viewers judge dramas set there hard, so it'll be interesting to see how this one handles it.

Cheers, that's a better explanation than mine

경성 배경 드라마는 고증 얘기가 꼭 나오는데, 이번엔 의상이랑 사무실 세트부터 얘기될 듯. bob 헤어 하나로도 시대를 못 박는 느낌이긴 함

ok added. wallet theft as a meet-cute is very much my thing

wallet theft as a meet-cute has a worse track record in real life

NOOO don't tell me it'll hurt 😭 I literally just added it to my list, why would you warn me

He translates for the people he's secretly lying to. That's not a job, that's a trap with a salary.

Wallet theft is fine, it's the interpreter job that worries me. Two languages, two loyalties, one bad day at the office.

7velvetcrow2026.10.17

pickpocket, spy, interpreter with a double life. three jobs where lying is the skill

↳
7Haneul2026.10.18

and the only one of the three getting paid for lying is the pickpocket 😭

↳
6Oatmilk_Otto2026.10.18

pickpocket, spy, interpreter. i'd add 'drama protagonist', the one job where lying gets you a second season

7Gaeun2026.10.17

Fair warning from someone who watches for the clothes: 1932 coats and that bob are worth the first episode on their own.

7Gaeun2026.10.18

Pickpocket in 1932 means a lot of coats with deep pockets. I'm in for the wardrobe and staying for the wallet theft.

7Gaeun2026.10.18

The bob against rooms full of dark suits means she'll be the easiest person to spot in every frame. Great for the audience, terrible for a spy.

7Haneul2026.10.18

a spy with the most recognisable haircut in the building. the plot basically writes itself 😭

↳
7snowpea2026.10.18

that haircut is a hazard for a spy but I'd copy it anyway. need that energy for my commute

8Taeho2026.10.18

Curious how the first week lands with Korean viewers. Colonial-era dramas get picked apart fast, and a weekend slot means they know by Monday whether the research holds up.

7velvetcrow2026.10.18

two episodes a weekend is the right dose. any more and i'd be calling in sick on monday

7Geonwoo2026.10.18

Two episodes a weekend and a pickpocket lead. I'll be checking my own pockets by episode 4.
