The Ordinary Jackpot is my Sunday night show now

If you get that heavy feeling on Sunday night before the week starts, this is the one. Lee Jun Hyuk plays an office worker who wins the lottery and just keeps going to work. No dramatic quitting, no throwing the ID badge on the boss's desk. The prize after tax is about 1.3 billion won, which sounds huge but isn't retire-forever money in Korea, and the show actually takes that seriously. What I liked is how small it stays. Sales team problems, promotions, a coworker hoping to become permanent staff, and a team slowly getting better at their jobs. I finished the last two episodes with a bowl of ramyeon and zero regrets. It's 10 episodes, so it's an easy weekend binge. He said in an interview he wanted people to feel proud of the work they do, and you can feel that the whole way through.

ok this is exactly my sunday night problem ๐Ÿ˜… adding it to the list after I finish grading

watched it on the night bus. the office stuff is painfully accurate for a show with a lottery in it

The premise only works because 1.3 billion won really isn't quit-forever money in Seoul. That bit of realism is what separates it from the usual revenge fantasy.

still going to work with 13์–ต in the bank is the most believable part of this show ๐Ÿ˜ญ I felt that โœจ

If the office realism is what works for you, Misaeng is the obvious next one. Much heavier, though, so maybe save it for a week when Sunday nights are going well.

13์–ต (1.3 billion won) sounds massive until you look up seoul apartment prices lol

No, it's a warm ending. A couple of bumps, but you'll be fine.

Honest question: does a show where basically nothing happens hold you for ten episodes? I need convincing.

Nothing happening is the point, and ten episodes never runs out of things. Small stakes done well: a promotion, a permanent contract, a team getting good at its job. Sounds like a Sunday night.

Misaeng with a lottery ticket.
