๐Ÿ”ฅthis week in korea: ai glasses, $43k, and gps on every private ambulance

7JunseoAm2026.10.14 11:03๐Ÿ‘ 1351๐Ÿ’ฌ 13โ™ฅ 51

proctors will check every single pair of glasses at the suneung on nov 19, after ai smart glasses got caught at yonsei and university of seoul essay exams this month. the IMF now has korea's gdp per capita at $43,512 this year, first time over 40k, still a hair behind taiwan. private ambulances have to stream their gps to the government in real time from now on, to catch "gajja gugeupcha" (fake ambulances) used for personal trips.

the glasses one is the one that'll stick. proctors eyeballing frames one by one, the "thick frames = suspicious" era has begun

a law so fake ambulances have to stream their GPS. the honor system has officially filed for retirement

prescription lenses are thick too though. imagine being the kid with -8 eyes getting side-eyed by a proctor all morning

gps on ambulances is fine, but fake ambulances for personal trips existing at all is the part I can't get over

6soju_sundays2026.10.14

and the proctor has to decide in two seconds if your frames are thick or you're just unlucky. nobody wins that one.

the ambulance one is overdue. I've seen 'ambulances' with lights on in Busan traffic and wondered more than once if anyone was actually in the back.

$43k per capita and everyone I know in Seoul still says they're broke. numbers are weird

yeah that's the part people are worried about. ministry said rf detectors weren't reliable enough this year so it's literally just eyeballs on glasses

cheating with ai on an essay exam is a wild skill issue. you still have to read what the glasses whisper to you

it's less skill issue and more 'someone paid for glasses and a hidden earpiece'. the effort alone is impressive.

A fake ambulance for personal trips is a level of commitment I can't help respecting a little.

A fake ambulance as a shortcut to brunch is commitment I'd almost respect if it weren't so dangerous.
