๐ฅwhat koreans eat the morning after
if you've ever been out drinking with korean coworkers you've probably been taken to a haejangguk place the next morning. haejang (ํด์ฅ) means something like clearing out the hangover, and there's a whole category of soups for it bugeoguk (๋ถ์๊ตญ, dried pollock soup) is the one people actually make at home. the dried pollock gets torn into strips, quickly fried in sesame oil, then simmered with sliced radish, and you swirl beaten egg in at the end. the broth is pale and mild, not spicy at all, which is exactly the point when your stomach is a mess. dried pollock keeps forever, so a bag of it just lives in a lot of korean kitchens for this situation the popular versions on korean recipe sites are basically that, radish and egg, nothing fancy the spicy hangover soups get more attention, the pork bone one, the bean sprout one, but the plain pollock soup is the one i'd want at 9am. maangchi's video is a good place to start
