zoom in on the collar on both sides. those lines aren't just pattern, there's hangul consonants and vowels printed in there. been using these bills my whole life and only found out this week, right after hangul day lol grab a magnifying glass or just your phone camera on max zoom, it's a cool thing to show people visiting

My euros have no hidden letters, only bridges that don't exist. Korea wins on bill design.

Both sides of the collar, per the post. Tilt the bill so the light hits it from the side instead of straight down, tiny print tends to show up that way.

just held my phone over a bill like a detective ๐Ÿ” does it work on the older bills too or only the new ones?

7Soomin2026.10.11

Zoomed in on mine and it just looks like lines to me. Can someone say where on the collar so I'm not squinting at money in the queue again.

Now I'm going to be the foreigner holding a note up to the light at the market. Cheapest party trick in Korea and it was in my wallet the whole time.

7Nari2026.10.10

Just checked mine and you can actually see it. Mind blown

Fitting, since he is the king who created the script. A nice detail to hide in plain sight, the week of Hangul Day.

me looking at my last 10,000 won bill before buying tteokbokki ๐Ÿฅฒ

Showing this to my friends when they visit, thank you

No idea about the older ones. Off to dig a crumpled note out of my coat pocket, will report back.

Update from the coat pocket: found a crumpled note, squinted, and I still can't tell if it's an older one. Lines yes, letters I'm taking on faith.

Years of paying for PC bang snacks with these and never zoomed once. Checking my wallet now, results unclear.

Results unclear is the most honest wallet review I've read all week. Maybe try a desk lamp before you give up on the bill.

i have literally never looked closely at any money from any country. what else is hiding in there ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Aussie notes have a clear window and tiny print hiding in them too, apparently, and I've never once gone looking. Now I'm going to be weird about my wallet.

7Soomin2026.10.11

Went and squinted at my 10,000 won in a convenience store queue after reading this. Zero shame, the cashier was very patient.
