Kim Ji Won slouching in a room full of white coats

This still from Doctor X made me laugh because I have sat in exactly this kind of hospital conference, except I was sitting up straight like everyone else. Her surgeon Gye Soo Jung is a freelancer nicknamed the crazy Gye of the operating room, and on day one she walks up to the podium and takes apart the director's case in front of everyone.

The first episode got 11.4 percent nationwide, the best miniseries premiere of the year so far. I am in for this one.

11.4 is a great start but remakes tend to open strong on name recognition. Ask me again at episode 6.

Name recognition gets you the premiere. The second week is where a remake finds out if it's a show or a cover band.

Every school staff meeting has one person slouching at the back. Now I know they're the one with the actual plan.

11.4 on a first episode is wild. Is it a remake of the Japanese one?

Yes, it is based on the Japanese series of the same name. From the first episode it feels quite Korean in tone though.

Okay but does she go off for ten minutes or drop one line and the room goes silent? Deciding whether this is a weeknight show or a weekend binge.
