wet socks for a cold, yes or no

It's getting cold and I keep seeing this "warming socks" trick: soak your feet in warm water, put on thin cotton socks wrung out in cold water, thick wool socks over them, then go to bed. People swear it helps them feel warmer and sleep better, though there's no real clinical evidence it does anything for a cold. Has anyone here actually slept in wet socks on purpose? When I lived in Daegu my coworkers just sent me to the ํ•œ์˜์› for herbal medicine. I'm going to try it once, mostly out of curiosity, and if it's terrible I'll go back to ginger tea.

Nurse says harmless, my coworkers say it's a punishment for not wearing slippers indoors. Either way I'm not voluntarily wetting a sock in October.

As a nurse: harmless if you are healthy, but it will not cure anything. Rest and fluids do the real work.

I tried it once in college. Woke up with dry socks and a confused roommate

my mom's version is hot water bottle and 'go to sleep.' wet socks feels designed by someone who's never been cold at 3am
