Remember when ํ‘๋‹น (heukdang, brown sugar) was in every single thing? Bubble tea, popcorn, sandwiches, almonds, pizza. Did anyone actually finish a brown sugar milk tea sandwich, or did we all just take the photo.

I still think the bubble tea was the only one that deserved to exist.

The tragedy is the syrup and pearls were never the problem. It was every brand after the third product slapping it on bread.

The brown sugar boom had a clear arc: bubble tea first, then every brand in the aisle tried to attach it to something, and by the sandwich the idea was gone. The latte is what survived.
