one of them is lying, apparently

I don't usually bother with drama teasers, but a he-said-she-said thriller is my weakness. The Perfect Lie is MBC's new psychological thriller from Jo Young Min, the director of You and Everything Else. The premise is a man and a woman giving completely opposite accounts of the same memory. It also reunites Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin, ten years after Dr. Romantic, which I'm told is a very big deal for some of you.

It opens like a perfectly nice first date. Then her character says "I can't breathe" and the whole thing goes cold. He says it wasn't an uncomfortable situation at all and that she's pinning the responsibility for an impulsive act on him alone. She says all of it is lies. He says he's never lied. Then Ok Ja Yeon shows up as a detective and calls it a lie mixed subtly with the truth, which is the most useful line in the entire teaser.

My bet: the caption keeps insisting one of these two is lying, which in my experience means both are. The show wants everyone picking a side by episode 2 and feeling silly by episode 8. Her last line, "I wanted to put everything back where it belonged, but…", sounds like the person with the bigger secret to me. Premieres October 30 at 9:50pm KST. I'll watch the first episode purely so I can be smug about this later.
