Oh! My Guard: a top star who won't film kiss scenes meets a fan who thinks she's his drama's heroine
Jung Yong-hwa and Hong Seung-hee are doing a romcom on Lifetime. The Korean title is ๋ฐ๋ ๋๋ ์์ด, ๋๋ค, roughly "out of nowhere, it's you," and the English title is Oh! My Guard.
He plays Uhm Tae-bong, an A-list actor who got famous from romance dramas but refuses to film kiss scenes. She plays Oh Hae-ra, a reclusive heiress and longtime fan who, after an accident and memory loss, believes she's the female lead of his drama. They meet because she's wearing a limited-edition hoodie he lost, so he decides she's a thief and a stalker, while she's thrilled to finally meet her favorite star. Korean comments were less sold than me. A couple of people said they'd never heard of the Lifetime channel, one called it viral marketing, and one said the promo material looks a bit ๋ฐคํฐ (slightly tacky). As a Carat I'm used to defending things people call cringe. The premise is silly in the exact way a romcom should be. It premieres October 24 at 10:50pm KST.
