🔥Hongdae after a weekend night: Koreans are calling the station 'Trash Entrance' now
This has been on Instiz all day, built around a news video about the streets of Hongdae (홍대, the area around Hongik University in Seoul, full of bars, buskers and students).

The poster's line was that it has become 쓰레기입구, a pun on 홍대입구 (Hongik University Station, literally "Hongdae Entrance") with 쓰레기, trash. Cups still half full, piles around the bins, and people dropping things right next to the workers who are cleaning. The poster also said adding more bins didn't help. The Korean comments went in all directions. One asked how you can dump trash right beside the person cleaning it. Another said bins would work better if they were split like in cafes, food, drinks, general and recycling. Someone from Daejeon said it's the same there, another said Hongdae actually has more bins than most areas and people just don't want to carry their trash, and one person wanted Singapore-style fines. In Lagos we'd blame the government first and the people second. Here it sounds like the other way round. For those who've visited Korea: did you have trouble finding bins, and did you end up carrying your trash around all day?
