๐Ÿ”ฅV's $1,241 'lungi trousers': the look I'd copy, the pants I'd skip

7GaeunAm2026.10.15 19:04๐Ÿ‘ 2698๐Ÿ’ฌ 28โ™ฅ 71

V wore a black oversized zip hoodie with wide black pleated trousers at a soundcheck in Chile for the ARIRANG tour, and the pants turned out to be from JULIUS, the Japanese avant-garde label. Around $1,241 retail. The product name is "Lungi Trousers".

That name is where it went wrong. Indian fans pointed out that a lungi is a traditional Indian garment, and that this pleated, draped front is actually closer to a dhoti, so the brand borrowed the name and still got it wrong. Nobody was mad at him, it was all aimed at the label. In the same replies another group of Indian ARMY were just happy he was slaying it and told him to come to India. What I'd buy is the silhouette. Black on black, oversized zip-up, dropped crotch, heavy pleats at the front. Comfortable, looks expensive even when it isn't, works on stage and at the airport. Plenty of brands make that shape. What I'd skip is these exact pants. Over a thousand dollars for a design filed under "avant-garde" when the brand can't even name its inspiration correctly. If I want a dhoti cut I'd rather pay someone who actually makes dhotis. He looks great, that part isn't up for debate. My money just goes somewhere else.

HE LOOKS SO GOOD THOUGH. ok i read the whole thing, fair, the brand should've just called it what it is

7Junseo2026.10.16

the part that gets me is how quickly an obvious fix goes viral when it's cultural, but nobody can fix a $1,241 price tag. name it right, charge less, done.

7GaeunOP2026.10.15

Credit would be saying where it comes from and who it's for. A product name on a $1,241 item isn't that.

7Kettlecorn2026.10.16

'WE DIDN'T CHECK' ON A $1,241 PRICE TAG IS THE MOST HONEST PRODUCT DESCRIPTION I'VE SEEN

8Taeho2026.10.15

Somewhere in the middle here. A name with no context isn't credit, but it isn't hiding the origin either. The price is the part I can't defend.

Rename someone's traditional clothes, add a zero to the price. Oldest trick in fashion, doesn't matter which country the label's from.

the add-a-zero trick works because someone always buys it. half of fashion week is that

7Minjae2026.10.15

Calling it a lungi is at least pointing at where it came from? Not great, but I've seen brands do way worse with no name at all.

the hoodie though. need

7Minjae2026.10.15

the hoodie is the sensible part of the outfit. the trousers need a bigger budget and a bigger house

7Haneul2026.10.15

love him but โœจ $1,241 for a pleated situation ๐Ÿฅน I'll enjoy the photos instead

โ†ณ
7sleepy_orbit2026.10.15

pleated situation is the best two words in this thread

6Fizzwick2026.10.15

brand named it wrong and priced it right

7Haneul2026.10.16

the hoodie tour starts here and the lungi trousers stay in the lookbook ๐Ÿฅนโœจ

8Dabin2026.10.15

ok i came for v in the hoodie and now i know what a dhoti is. thanks internet

7Matcha_Mango2026.10.16

I came for the hoodie and stayed for the dhoti correction. best fashion education of the week, none of it from the brand

6soju_sundays2026.10.15

the Indian ARMY replies being half 'fix the name' and half 'we love you' is the most ARMY thing ever

โ†ณ
7Haneul2026.10.16

half 'fix the name' and half 'we love you' is just how ARMY works ๐Ÿฅน both can be true at once

6moss.and.rain2026.10.15

I'm still on the hoodie too. $1,241 for trousers I'd trip over in the first ten steps

โ†ณ
7orbit_kid2026.10.16

$1,241 and I'd still trip on the hem getting out of the car. The hoodie is the real flex.

6tteok_n_roll2026.10.16

dance crew take: wide pleated trousers look great until someone has to do a floor part. at $1,241 I'd be standing very still

โ†ณ
7Dahye2026.10.16

standing very still for $1,241 is a fair review of most avant-garde. the hoodie can come for coffee though, the trousers need an event.

7Dahye2026.10.16

avant-garde is a very expensive way to say 'we didn't check'.

6moss.and.rain2026.10.16

wait, is the hoodie also a four-figure situation or can a normal person buy it? asking so I know whether to cry

โ†ณ
7cloudberry2026.10.16

post only gives the trouser price, the hoodie isn't mentioned. don't cry yet, or cry in advance, up to you

6soju_sundays2026.10.16

I'll keep the hoodie, thank you. Indian ARMY telling him to come to India is the wholesome part of an otherwise very expensive thread.
