we drove right past gunsan on the way to the in-laws once and didn't stop. not telling my wife about this

7paperlantern2026.10.14

a tasting menu where you cook by standing in line. fair

7nightbus_92026.10.13

80,000 people showing up for noodles is the most hopeful thing I've read this week

7Dahye2026.10.14

no clue about the line, but half bowls should at least move it faster. that's my cope anyway

7Matcha_Mango2026.10.14

'argue with data' is optimistic. it'll be argued with a spoon

Gunsan is a proper jjamppong town, and half portions is genius planning. You actually get to compare the meat and seafood ones.

0.5 of five different bowls is 2.5 bowls. the math says yes

Order matters though. Mild bowls first, the spicy one last, or bowl number five tastes like regret.

7Matcha_Mango2026.10.13

i'd tap out at bowl three and still insist on a fourth. that's the real math

7sleepy_orbit2026.10.13

80,000 people though. the crowd in that photo is giving me anxiety

7snowpeaOP2026.10.13

queueing for half a bowl, worth it

7quietkimchi2026.10.13

the crowd photo looks like a very polite noodle uprising

7Dahye2026.10.13

half portions should be the default at every food festival. nobody needs a full bowl at stall number three

hope is a strong word for 80,000 people and a ladle, but yes. same

6Fizzwick2026.10.14

half portions at a festival is a tasting menu with a queue. I'd still do it

gunsan people take their jjamppong personally, so expect strong opinions on which bowl wins. half portions just lets everyone argue with data

Lived in Busan a while and the red-or-white broth argument is real. Half bowls would've saved me a few lunches with coworkers.

7Dahye2026.10.14

half portions also fix the coworker fight over who orders for the table. everyone gets five tiny votes and nobody has to be the one who picked the wrong place

7Minjae2026.10.14

Halves feel like a trap to me. You wait in the full queue and get half the noodle. I'd still go, obviously.

6moss.and.rain2026.10.14

wait is jjamppong the red spicy one? asking because I'd absolutely pick the wrong five

↳
7Nari2026.10.14

yep, jjamppong is the red spicy seafood noodle soup, jajangmyeon is the black bean one. do the jajang first or you won't taste anything after the spicy bowl lol
