๐ฅThe '1-minute padding' is back. I would buy a jacket and skip the chase
Light down jackets, ๊ฒฝ๋ํจ๋ฉ (lightweight padding), are the first big fashion purchase of the cold season in Korea, and this year the buying started before the cold did. Musinsa says its light padding sales in August were up 718% on last year, and Samsung's SSF Shop reports roughly twice as many customers buying them. The headline item is New Balance's Flying77 super light goose down. Last year restocks sold out in under a minute, which earned it the nickname 1๋ถ์ปท ํจ๋ฉ (the one-minute padding). This year the hooded version sold through its first batch on launch day again. Same 7-denier yarn, now with a coated fabric so the down doesn't poke through, in colours like ash blue and charcoal, with aespa's Winter fronting the campaign.

Musinsa Standard's City Leisure hooded light down sits around 100,000 won and sold over 30,000 pieces in about fifty days last year. Two of its colours, moon blue and cloudy blue, went for more than double the price on resale platforms. The North Face is answering with the Summit Matterhorn down jacket in Pertex Quantum with 90% goose down.

What I would buy: the Musinsa Standard one, in whichever colour is not the hyped one. A light down is a layer. By December it lives under a coat and nobody will ever see the colour. What I would skip: the chase. Setting alarms and paying double on resale for a thin layering jacket because a sold-out label made it feel rare is the part of Korean shopping culture I understand least. The jacket is good. The one minute is marketing.
