Felix at Louis Vuitton: why the black suit works

Felix's Louis Vuitton look in Paris is all black and white, and these Getty photos are getting called fansite quality in Korea. It's a good example of a simple outfit doing a lot. The jacket is the key piece. It's cut short and boxy with big shoulders and wide satin lapels, so it reads almost like a cropped tuxedo. That short length raises the waist, and the wide high trousers fall straight to the floor, so the whole silhouette gets longer without any trick shoes. The white shirt with a sharp collar and the slim black tie keep it formal. Then the soft black bag in one hand breaks the stiffness a little. The hair is what turns it from suit into styling. Long platinum hair parted in the middle, falling past the shoulders over all that black. The contrast is the outfit. With short dark hair this would just be a nice suit. Korean comments kept saying he looks like an elf from Lord of the Rings or an RPG character, which is the effect the stylist was going for, I think. I wouldn't wear the hair, but the cropped boxy jacket over high wide trousers is something I'd try. It's a good shape for anyone who wants to look taller in flat shoes.
