Lunch break today went the usual way, adding places to my Seoul food list for a trip that's still months away. Then a man and his mom got me a little emotional. He'd posted about Yujin Jjamppong, a Chinese-Korean place in front of Dongdaemun's big fabric market, and people told him the jjajangmyeon is the real star. So he went back. He said his mother has seemed a little down lately, so whenever he has to go to Dongdaemun, Namdaemun or Insadong for work supplies, he plans the day a bit looser and takes her along. This time he finished his errands alone in the morning, met her around 3, and they had jjajangmyeon and jjamppong together.

That's it, that's the whole story. Nothing happened. But I sat there with my sad sandwich and thought it was the nicest thing I'd read all week. I texted my mom a photo of the noodles and she replied with three heart emojis and a request to bring her some back, which is not how noodles work. Yujin Jjamppong is on the list now, with a note next to it: bring Mom next time.
