Jamsugyo is becoming a walking bridge and I'm already planning a visit
Seoul is turning Jamsugyo, the low bridge under Banpo Bridge, into a full pedestrian bridge. Cars are blocked for good from midnight on October 26.

The plan has 22 pedestrian decks along it, 5 meters wide and 795 meters long, with spots for performances and resting, and bikes and walkers sharing the bridge. The bus stops on Jamsugyo are closing, and buses 405 and 740 are being rerouted over Banpo Bridge instead. I live in Amsterdam, so a bridge without cars is just a normal Tuesday for me, but this one feels different. It sits so low on the Han River, and those renderings of people sitting on the deck at sunset look exactly like a drama scene. I've only ever seen the Banpo rainbow fountain on screen, and now there's going to be a proper place to stand right under it. If I make it to Seoul next year, this is the first evening I'm booking.
