๐Ÿ”ฅBusan has otters now, and they walk right up to people

*screams* there's an otter couple living in Oncheoncheon, the stream that runs through the middle of Busan, and they're not scared of people at all.

The last one is my favorite. Someone's out on an evening walk and the otter just strolls up to his shoes like it's checking his ID. They've apparently been around for a while, but they're getting attention now because of the shark that showed up in Busan's North Port, which people named ๋ถ€์บ‰์ด (Bukangi). The Korean news caption says people are joking that Busan is slowly turning into an aquarium. Someone in the comments added that herons are everywhere on that stream too, and that big birds flying overhead come with their own risks. I've never seen a wild otter in my life and Helsinki is basically made of water. Unfair.

I believe otters are a protected species in Korea, so people are usually told not to feed or approach them. Cute to watch, but better from a distance

The Busan otters have better PR than most idols. No manager, no schedule, still trending.

Good to know, I would've crouched down to say hi immediately. Distance it is, but I'm still hunting for them next time I'm in Busan.

They have names. Otter One and Otter Two. The internet will rename them by Friday

Shark, then otters. Busan's wildlife department is clearly in a content war with Seoul

Shoe inspection by otter. Busan has the cutest border control I've ever seen.
