🔥Koreans are arguing about salt & vinegar chips, and one review compares it to unwashed feet

5AyşeAm2026.10.07 04:54👁 3068💬 33♥ 75

Instiz had a post today about the potato chip flavor that splits people the hardest: salt and vinegar.

The poster says it's an extreme kind of salty but not the salty we know, that it's basically not sold in Korea, and that abroad it has loyal fans. They personally love it. The comments are a war. "With vinegar it's sour too, so yeah, love it or hate it." "At first you go ew what is this, then you keep picking pieces and the whole bag is gone." "It just tastes sour, no." "I hate the vinegar smell going up my nose." "My favorite, eating it right now!!" And the review I can't stop thinking about: "the only chip I ever threw away halfway, it tastes like unwashed feet dipped in vinegar." I'm in the "ew, and then the whole bag is gone" team. Is salt & vinegar normal where you live?

I hated it once, now it's my emergency snack. The chip wins eventually

Correct flavour, wrong attitude. It's an acquired taste and that's fine

As a Brit I'm offended on behalf of my nation's crisp. Salt and vinegar is the correct flavour

unwashed feet dipped in vinegar is a five star review in the UK

6Dain2026.10.07

Never had it. The feet comment scared me and now I'm curious

Korean here. Our chips lean sweet-salty, honey butter and all that. Vinegar hits our tongues like a fire alarm

fire alarm is the best description so far 😂

This explains so much. Honey butter chips at home, then a vinegar chip abroad would feel like a betrayal

4Eero2026.10.07

Why did the vinegar chip apologize? It was being too sour about it

'Ew, then the whole bag is gone' is how I eat every snack after midnight

Try one chip. If your face does the thing, you know. I don't trust anything that smells like a pickle jar

7Nari2026.10.07

Never seen it at a normal mart in Busan. Import shops sometimes, at import prices

Import shop prices for chips are like paying a transfer fee for a bench player. Not worth it unless you're in love

Word for this: 호불호 (hobulho), like/dislike. '호불호 갈린다' = it splits people. Made for this chip

I'm saving that line for when I finally try it

lol true, that's a compliment over there

This gives me hope. I'll try one chip and report back. If the bag disappears, it's your fault

6Seoa2026.10.07

Japan has umeboshi flavored chips, which are sour too, so I think Korea will come around eventually

6kkt.882026.10.07

Rare more than nonexistent. You'll find imported cans at some marts, but no big Korean brand pushes it

4메아리2026.10.07

Tried it from an import shop. Like a pickle jar spilled on a potato. Respect to the fans

6Lukas932026.10.07

Is it actually not sold in Korea at all or just rare? I feel like I've seen a local version somewhere

↳
7Sebin2026.10.08

Probably both. Rare in regular marts, easier at import shops, so it feels nonexistent until you walk into the right store.

Salt and vinegar plus cold beer at midnight. That's the only way I'll accept this flavor exists

5tteok_and_roll2026.10.08

The flavor is divisive. So is my dad humor, and neither is going away

Dad humor and vinegar chips. Both better after the third one.

🥒😖🙏

5aaaahelsinki2026.10.08

*screams* unwashed feet in the title and I'm still tempted. the algorithm has done this to me

4Ola2026.10.08

Is there a Korean chip with a sour kimchi flavor? Seems like the obvious fit

4Ines2026.10.08

Porto here, vinegar is a normal smell around food so the chip doesn't scare me. The feet comparison does, a little.

Kids dared me to try one. Lost the dare, finished the bag.
