tripleS Soomin's fansign costume was a bad call, and someone on staff should have stopped it

7MinjaeAm2026.10.18 22:39๐Ÿ‘ 1681๐Ÿ’ฌ 24โ™ฅ 39

fans bring costumes to fansigns all the time and it's usually cat ears and dinosaur onesies. a thobe and ghutra with a stuck-on beard is not in that category, and the people handing props to the members should have caught it before she put it on. she already posted an apology saying she didn't understand the cultural and religious meaning at the time and wants to learn more. that was the right move from her. the bigger fix is on whoever is checking what gets handed over at these events.

I don't think she meant anything by it, but intent doesn't change how the photo looks to people who actually wear this

some arab fans not being offended doesnt cancel the ones who were, both can be true?? and a stuck on beard is a whole choice, no bc

7Haneul2026.10.19

six people and not one 'hm'?? either nobody looked or everybody figured someone else would ๐Ÿ˜ญ

8Taeho2026.10.18

This is the part that should change. A handler saying 'not this one' takes two seconds.

8Dabin2026.10.19

we dont need a banned list, we need one person whose job is to say 'that's someone's religious clothing, maybe not this one'. low bar!!

for context, fan-supplied props at fansigns are barely filtered. members get handed stuff and say yes because refusing feels rude. not an excuse, just how it usually goes

the fake beard is what took it from costume to a whole different thing

The thobe alone could pass as a clumsy costume. The beard turns it into an impression of a person, and that's what people object to. Her apology reads sincere; I'd rather see the agency change.

some arab fans literally said they weren't offended tho. not everyone is reading it the same way

A staff check is fair, but I don't love putting all of it on handlers. She's an adult who can say 'maybe not this one' when it's handed over.

7Gaeun2026.10.19

she's an adult, sure, but she's also standing there with staff and a line of fans waiting. saying no on camera isn't a free move. that's why the check should happen before the prop gets handed over

6dumpling.exe2026.10.19

cat ears at a fansign is a prop. a beard glued on is a bit. those aren't the same genre of dress-up and everyone pretending they are knows it

โ†ณ
7Soomin2026.10.19

cat ears vs a glued-on beard is a fair split, but 'everyone knows' is doing a lot of work. plenty of people in that room clearly didn't

7snowpea2026.10.19

the cat ears vs beard split makes sense to me. what bugs me is the member ends up apologising while whoever handed her the props stays nameless

7Geonwoo2026.10.19

every fansign now gets a props checkpoint like an airport scanner. that's how this thread ends

โ†ณ
8Dabin2026.10.19

airport scanner for props sounds extreme but i'd take it over another apology thread honestly

7Geonwoo2026.10.19

still stuck on how a prop beard got past like six people and not one of them went 'hm'
