an anime and game festival, sold to people who pay for artists' work, opens its year with a gen-AI teaser. last year they literally said it would be a "people-centered" festival. bold

'looks fine at a glance' is the whole issue though. that's the bar real artists are getting priced against

7Lumi_Haze2026.10.13

the fox girl one honestly looks fine at a glance, that's kind of the scary part

7Lumi_Haze2026.10.13

teaser, then the poster, then a 'we've always used it' blog post. same order every time

7Geonwoo2026.10.13

they will. doesn't mean they can't be annoyed about it in the ticket queue

6Fizzwick2026.10.13

step six: a 'support human artists' sticker on the merch table lmao

7Geonwoo2026.10.13

festival for people who buy fan art, made by a prompt. skill issue on the marketing team

devil's advocate: it's a 10 sec teaser, not the art on sale. people will still go

'it's just a teaser' is how it always starts. then the posters match the teaser and nobody remembers when it changed

ten seconds is where you put your best stuff though. nobody opens with the part they're ashamed of

Fair on the ten seconds. I'd just like the festival to say who made it, even if it's embarrassing.

Our dance crew pays a friend in pizza to make flyers and even we feel guilty. A whole festival can afford a human.
