๐Ÿ”ฅKim Chaewon's Catallena, 2020 and 2026

7DahyeAm2026.10.10 21:59๐Ÿ‘ 6450๐Ÿ’ฌ 36โ™ฅ 99

There's a tiny clip from Chaewon's IZ*ONE days that just won't die, and I love that for her ๐Ÿ˜ญ This is the 2020 one. She covered Orange Caramel's Catallena and the part everyone remembers is the "lalalala heundeulheundeul son heundeulgo" bit, which is basically her waving her hands back and forth while singing about waving her hands.

Someone made a 24-hour loop of only that part. It has over 3 million views and the comments are almost all from international fans. Now it's 2026, LE SSERAFIM is touring overseas, and that same part has turned into a mini TikTok challenge where people tag her. Fans at the shows keep asking her to do it, and she does, pretty much every time.

She even asked fans how they all know about it, which made me laugh because the answer is the 24 hour video. Five years later the hand wave is exactly the same, just with a cowboy hat sometimes. Some idols get a signature dance from their title track. Chaewon got hers from a cover she probably thought nobody would remember.

Dormant is the right word. My mom does the Baby Shark hands at red lights and swears she's never watched it.

7Junseo2026.10.10

the lyric literally says waving hands, so she's just being accurate lol

7Minjae2026.10.11

The fans abroad found it before a lot of Korean fans did, I think, which is why she asks how they all know. It's one of those clips that belongs to the internet now.

7Soomin2026.10.11

Content strategy is generous. They wrote 'wave your hands' into a song about waving hands. That's just honesty with a budget.

7Junseo2026.10.10

korean fans are so confused why this specific 5 seconds is famous abroad lol

8Dabin2026.10.10

LALALALA HEUNDEULHEUNDEUL i hear it in my sleep

7Minjae2026.10.10

She has done this at almost every stop on the tour. The fact that she never looks tired of it says a lot.

7Haneul2026.10.10

cowboy catallena is the best version and i will not be taking questions ๐Ÿค

wait, cowboy catallena is a thing?? asking for research purposes lol

The 24 hour video is a public service honestly

Orange Caramel songs were built for this. Short hooks with a hand gesture, easy to repeat forever.

โ†ณ
7Geonwoo2026.10.11

Orange Caramel had a content strategy before content strategy was a job.

7Junseo2026.10.10

8Dabin2026.10.11

she's not even performing, she's reading the lyrics out loud with her hands. peak literal ๐Ÿ˜ญ now I need her to do every song with a verb in it

7Nari2026.10.11

Showed this to a Korean coworker and she did the hand thing without noticing. So it's in there somewhere, just dormant.

โ†ณ
7Minjae2026.10.11

7Haneul2026.10.11

fans asking for it every show and her going 'fine' and doing it, every time, is the healthiest idol x fan relationship i know ๐Ÿ˜ญโœจ

โ†ณ
7Soomin2026.10.11

Fans: do the thing. Chaewon: fine. Nobody has ever broken that contract.

7Geonwoo2026.10.11

A 24 hour loop with 3 million views. Years in marketing and I've never moved numbers like a waving hand.

8Taeho2026.10.11

What gets me is that she does it every time. After six years of the same five seconds most people would have a face of mild suffering ready. She just does the hands.

โ†ณ
7Junseo2026.10.11

mild suffering face is for the 2029 fan meeting, right now she's clearly still having fun lol

7Nari2026.10.11

Tried not to do the hand thing while reading this and lost in about four seconds.

โ†ณ
7Minjae2026.10.11

I read that sentence and my hands were already moving. We're all lost, there's no going back.

8Taeho2026.10.11

Not my genre at all and this thread still got me humming the hand part. I'm not happy about it.

โ†ณ
7Haneul2026.10.11

he's humming. he's already one of us ๐Ÿ˜ญ resistance lasts about five seconds โœจ

7Gaeun2026.10.11

Same wave in 2026, but now with a hat, stage lighting and a camera that isn't a webcam. Five seconds of content with a full glow-up.

โ†ณ
8Taeho2026.10.11

The webcam to stage lighting jump is the real glow-up. The hands never needed an upgrade.

8Dabin2026.10.11

no bc i learned the heundeulheundeul part before i ever heard the original song. backwards fandom but here we are

7Junseo2026.10.11

the best part of the 24 hour loop is the comment section, just people from everywhere confessing they sat through the whole thing

โ†ณ
7Minjae2026.10.11

Guilty. Sat through the whole loop and the only damage was a sore wrist.

7Soomin2026.10.11

Six years on and this is still the only part of the song anyone can quote. Not sure that's a compliment to the rest of the song, but what a five seconds.

โ†ณ
7Haneul2026.10.11

the rest of the song is fine!! it just has to compete with a hand wave and the hand wave wins every time

7Nari2026.10.11

Doing the same five seconds on request, show after show, and still looking like she means it is the actual skill.

6soju_sundays2026.10.12

doing the hand thing at the nurses' station at 3am. nobody asked, I didn't explain
