🔥Three blue hearts under an apology for dodging military service rules

8TaehoAm2026.10.10 20:03👁 6577💬 40♥ 110

Song Mino posted his apology on the 9th. He admitted violating the Military Service Act, wrote that he would reflect on his "foolish mistakes" without trying to evade them, and promised to finish the remaining procedures and obligations. Fair enough, that is what an apology is supposed to say. What most people outside Korea will scroll past is the small line under it. Byun Yohan liked the post and left a comment that is nothing but three hearts.

I have a soft spot for him because of Mr. Sunshine, so this one stings a little. Friends support friends, I understand that, and maybe they really are close. But in Korea military service is not a celebrity gossip topic. Almost every man in the country went through it or is about to, and Mino's own letter apologizes first to the young men who are serving right now. A public heart under that letter does not read as kindness to them, it reads as "this was not a big deal". The Korean comments were harsh but mostly said one thing: if he had stayed still, nobody would have said a word. One of the top replies was "If you stay still, half the battle is won", with over 700 upvotes. Another person called him overrated, which is unfair to his acting, but you can see how quickly goodwill goes. A text message or a phone call would have done the same job for his friend without putting his name next to this. Sometimes the kind thing and the public thing are not the same thing.

Korean netizens when someone hearts a post: grab the torches. Me when I forget to like my mom's post: same energy honestly

7Soomin2026.10.11

Liking the post then adding hearts reads like a two-step. I doubt he stumbled into that.

7Soomin2026.10.10

Nobody says he can't have friends. It's the timing, three hearts under an apology about dodging service is the one spot you don't put them

7Junseo2026.10.10

yeah it's the timing. same hearts under any other post and nobody blinks, under this one they read like a vote

7Junseo2026.10.11

two-step fits. in the korean press it all gets squeezed into one word, 논란 (controversy), and the hearts are the headline lol

7Junseo2026.10.10

the 가만히 있으면 중간은 간다 comment really is the whole thread in one line

8Dabin2026.10.10

ok but he's allowed to have friends?? it's three hearts not a press conference

Of course he is. My point is only that a private message would have meant the same to Mino without this reaction.

Military service is such a sensitive topic there, I get why people reacted. Still feels like a lot over emojis

↳
7Junseo2026.10.10

it's not really the emojis tho, it's that every guy commenting did his service and feels mocked

7Haneul2026.10.10

ok but is the like the crime or the hearts?? the like alone would've been fine 🥹

↳
8Dabin2026.10.10

no bc the like is a button and the hearts are a sentence. three tiny hearts said something

7Geonwoo2026.10.10

At my office a thumbs up on the wrong email is already a reorganisation.

7Dahye2026.10.10

Funny how three tiny hearts can carry more weight than a full paragraph. Wrong spot for them, I guess.

7Soomin2026.10.10

That 'if you stay still, half the battle is won' line is just good advice for anyone with a public account.

↳
7Geonwoo2026.10.11

Staying still is great advice until you pick the worst possible moment to move your thumb.

↳
8Dabin2026.10.11

me with a public account: archives half of what i post and likes nothing. peak mental health 😭

7Geonwoo2026.10.11

Three hearts and now a national debate. Somewhere a PR team is staring at a wall.

↳
7Junseo2026.10.11

a pr team's whole job is telling friends 'please don't comment'. nobody has ever followed it lol

↳
7Soomin2026.10.11

somewhere a PR team has a whiteboard that just says WHO TOUCHED THE PHONE

7Nari2026.10.11

Friends can be loyal, sure. But a public heart under that exact post is a choice, and he can't really call it an accident.

↳
7Haneul2026.10.11

wait is a heart really a 'choice' or just a thumb doing a thumb thing 🥹 feels like we're putting a tiny blue pixel on trial

7Nari2026.10.11

Three hearts is how you know it was typed by someone who thought about it for three seconds. Which is also the problem.

↳
8Dabin2026.10.11

three seconds is generous, i type and delete 'haha' four times before i post anything. imagine doing it under THAT post

7Junseo2026.10.11

the hearts weren't the story, the 700 upvotes on four words were. korean comment sections are brutal editors lol

↳
7Soomin2026.10.11

Seven hundred upvotes on four words is the part I'd frame. Nobody has ever edited so efficiently.

8Dabin2026.10.11

in mexico a celebrity hearting a friend's post is called tuesday. i get that the service thing makes it different here but 700 upvotes for three hearts still feels like a lot lol

↳
7Soomin2026.10.11

Manila would call that a Tuesday too. The difference here is that nearly every guy has a stake in the answer, so the same three hearts weigh a lot more.

7Gaeun2026.10.11

Genuine question from a non-Korean: is the problem the hearts, or that he picked the one post on the internet where nobody gets to like anything quietly?

↳
7Junseo2026.10.11

a bit of both lol. a like is silent, three typed hearts are a message, and in Korea anything near military service gets read for which side you're on

6dumpling.exe2026.10.12

Three hearts under an apology is a speedrun of not reading the room. Any% no skips.
